Composing An Economics Term Paper Outline In 6 Steps
When it comes to writing an excellent paper, it is so important to first create a plan that shows what you are going to write your paper on and lists all of the main points that you want to discuss. It is the best way to make sure that you are presenting the information in a logical order. An outline is the best way to do this. It creates a plan for your paper by listing the main points in the order that you want to present your information and when you write it in complete sentences, you will have a large portion of your paper already written for you. Here are the six steps that are taken when composing an economics term paper outline.
- Choose a topic
- Conduct preliminary research
- Create a thesis
- Decide the main points
- Decide on your supporting points
- Create transitions
The first thing that you will have to do is to come up with a topic to write your paper on. You will want to write about something relevant to your course and you will want to make sure that you also choose a topic that has enough information on it to complete a term paper. A term paper is a really large research paper that will need to have several cited sources to back up your claims.
You will conduct some preliminary research on the subject by reading everything about the subject that you can come up with. It will start to help you develop a main point for your paper that you will prove.
That main point is called your thesis. It is a sentence that you will create that states a main idea that you will prove and also at least three supporting reasons why. You will use the body paragraphs to explain why the thesis is true.
The main supporting details will be the reasons why the main point is true and they will be the leading sentence for each of your body paragraphs.
You will then need to go a little further and find some evidence to prove each main point that supports your main idea. You will need to follow that evidence with an explanation as to why it supports your point.
Transitions create links between one topic and the next. It is a good idea to add them in this stage so that you are focusing on the main points and not the sub topics.
